2017 World University Games: USA vs. United Arab Emirates

If you’re tuning in to watch game two of the group stage for Purdue/USA at the World University Games I don’t think we’re going to have a stream for this one. The original release from Purdue sports said that this morning’s game at 3am ET against the united Arab Emirates would not be available via streaming.

That might be a good thing though, because it seems likely to be a bloodbath. In the recap from the Argentina game that the UAE only has its tallest player listed at 6’6”, and he only played three minutes in the 97-52 loss to Estonia in the opener. After looking over their roster their tallest listed player is Abdulla Alabdulla at 199 centimeters, which comes out to 6’5” and change. Mubarak Khalfan and and Ibrahim Afghani are the next tallest players at 190 centimeters, which comes out to 6’2” and change.

So… yeah. Isaac Haas is going to be a full foot taller than anyone playing against him. Khalfan had 10 points against Estonia and Mohammad Khamis had 11, but they shot 32% from the floor and 29% from three.

I don’t think Purdue is going to have to play the starters much, so it would be nice to get the new guys on track a little. Eden Ewing, Aaron Wheeler, and Sasha Stefanovic haven’t done a whole lot yet, so hopefully they will get a lot of minutes here, especially since this is a compressed tournament with 8 games in about 10 days.

If anything changes on the streaming I will try to get it in here. If not, I’ll get hte game wrap when I get to work in the morning.
