Footage taken by terrified onlookers in Siberia, northern Russia, shows a mysterious glowing ball of light illuminating the night sky.
Vasily Zubkov “thought it was the end of the world” after capturing the baffling sight.
He said how – after seeing the “glowing ball” – he went home to find local children as young as five talking about “aliens” and “the portal to another dimension”.
Another cameraman – Alexey Yakovlev – witnessed the phenomenon some 520 miles away from Vasily and admitted to feeling scared.
“Gradually the ball began to expand, it became clear that this is not some radiance and it became scary,” he told The Siberian Times.
People offered their views online on what the sighting was, with one suggesting it was “a gap in the space-time continuum,” and another simply adding: “Aliens arrived”.
However, there may be a more realistic reason for the sighting.
More than 40,000 Americans have taken out insurance against being abducted by aliens.
Vladimir Putin fired a nuclear-capable ICBM along with three other missiles last night.
From a mobile launcher, it was successfully aimed at the Kura testing range in Kamchatka on the country’s Pacific coast.
And it’s thought the trace of the ICBM rocket – the Topol-M – is what caused the incredible light show over Russia.
