Over at the Del Mar College East Campus, Texas A & M University-Corpus Christi university students were trying to inspire kiddos to become interested in Science.
Saturday’s event was called “Science Saturday.”
In a news release sent to KRIS 6 News, it stated student chapters of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science at the Del Mar College and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi joined forces to offer and encourage minority youth to pursue STEM studies. The students also showcased lab facilities Del Mar College and the Island Univesity use.
There were science demonstrations, displays, as well as several “hands-on” activities to help get younger people interested in pursuing a career in the science industry.
Student organizers say they hope to host this event again next time at the Island University.
