Fontbonne University set to buy Kennedy Catholic High School | Education

ST. LOUIS • The St. Louis Archdiocese is selling John F. Kennedy Catholic High School to Fontbonne University.

A spokeswoman for Fontbonne confirmed that there is a sale in progress of the the former high school, which closed in May.

Additional details — including what the university plans to do with the space that’s 15 miles away from its Clayton campus — are expected Monday morning at a news conference to be held at Catholic Charities of St. Louis.

According to Post-Dispatch reports, St. Louis Archbishop Robert Carlson said he accepted the recommendation to close the school “in spite of the efforts of many to improve enrollment and reduce the increases in the cost of education.”

The former high school is at 500 Woods Mill Road in Manchester.
