LOUISVILLE — Food distributor Creation Gardens has issued a recall on more than 22,000 pounds of beef, citing possible E. coli contamination.
In addition to supplying Louisville restaurants, the company also supplies more than 1,500 restaurants in Lexington; Evansville, Ind.; Nashville; and Cincinnati, according to Creation Garden’s Facebook page.
The list of recalled products included raw ground beef and beef primal cut products.
Louisville-based Creation Gardens receives its produce and meats from several companies in Louisville and Southern Indiana.
Creation Gardens did not return multiple phone calls requesting comment.
E. Coli is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps two to eight days after exposure, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
USDA officials said that while most individuals will recover in a week, they should see a doctor if they have symptoms such as easy bruising, pallor and having trouble peeing.
