If it seemed like all heck broke out at the central campus of Broward College in Davie Friday, it wasn’t a real emergency situation.
A “mass casualty exercise” was taking place from late morning until early afternoon at the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus, 3501 Davie Rd., according to school officials.
The exercise was put on by the college and the Hospital Corporation of America and involved Davie police, Davie Fire Rescue and Florida Atlantic University.
The drill was to “combine interactivity and field elements to include the use of response vehicles, training firearms, simulated victims and other interactive mechanisms,” said Savannah Whaley, a spokeswoman for Broward College.
During the drill, access to certain areas of the campus was restricted.
