Jason Momoa recently apologized for his rape comments during his appearance at the 2011 Comic-Con.
A clip of the actor saying that he loved working on “Game of Thrones” because he got to “rape beautiful women” surfaced amid Harvey Weinstein’s sexual misconduct scandal. Momoa took his thoughts about his previous remarks to his Instagram account and apologized to everyone he had offended.
Momoa acknowledged the fact that his comment was “distasteful” and said that he is “severely disappointed” in himself for making such an insensitive remark. The actor also said that he understands the ramifications of rape and sexual harassment since some of his closest family members and friends have experienced it. “I sincerely apologize with a heavy heart for the words I said. All apologies,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Momoa isn’t the only actor who is apologizing publicly in relation to the issue. Ben Affleck also asked for Hilarie Burton’s forgiveness after she claimed that he groped her breasts while hosting MTV’s “Total Request Live” several years ago.
The incident was brought to light after Affleck weighed in on Weinstein’s recent controversy of allegedly sexually assaulting actresses and models. “I am saddened and angry that a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over the decades. This is completely unacceptable, and I find myself asking what I can do to make sure this doesn’t happen to others,” Affleck said.
A fan called out the actor nd said that he shouldn’t have gotten involved because he also assaulted Burton when she was just 19.
Burton, who is expecting her second child with “The Walking Dead” actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan told her supporter that she did not forget about the incident. Burton also shared a clip of the incident that showed Burton laughing after Affleck “tweaked” her left boob. She explained that she had to laugh about it so she could stop herself from crying.
On his Twitter account, Affleck acknowledged his misconduct and apologized to Burton. Unfortunately, Burton has not yet responded to Affleck’s tweet.
