Man accused of sharing child porn worked at Syracuse University until arrest

A Clay man accused of sharing child pornography worked at Syracuse University until his arrest, officials said.

Ryan K. Gavigan, 28, of Morgan Road, was arrested Wednesday by the New York State Police. Troopers said he shared “multiple” child pornography images with another Internet user.

Gavigan previously worked as a student conduct advisor with SU’s Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities. The university suspended Gavigan after he was arrested, officials said.

The university declined to comment further, citing the ongoing investigation.

SU’s Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities helps resolve code of conduct violations filed against students.

Gavigan was charged with possession of sexual performance by a child and promoting the sexual performance of a child, both felonies. He was released from the Onondaga County Justice Center Wednesday evening.
