Marshall University remembers The 75 during Memorial Fountain Ceremony

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) — Marshall University honored and remembered the 75 people who died in a plane crash coming back from a football game against East Carolina University 47 years ago.

Members of the Marshall community gathered in front of the student center Tuesday afternoon as the Memorial Fountain was shut off.

The keynote speaker at the event was Marshall senior student Fisher Cross.

His grandparents, Herbert and Josephine Proctor, were killed in the crash near Tri-State Airport on Nov. 14, 1970.

Marshall students and football players also placed a rose on the fountain as the names of those who died were read aloud.

The ceremony in its entirety can be seen here.
