CLEVELAND, Ohio — Notre Dame College and Fairmont State have a key Mountain East Conference football battle at noon Saturday at Mueller Field in South Euclid, Ohio.
Notre Dame (4-1) has scored more than 40 points in three of its four victories. Like Notre Dame, Fairmont (4-1) has won four straight games. Notre Dame has lost three of its last four games against Fairmont, including two straight losses.
Last season, both teams were ranked and NDC lost a fumble on its final possession of a 23-19 loss.
Notre Dame is averaging 39.8 points a game and leads the MEC in rushing at 285.6 yards per game. Running back D.J. Green leads the MEC with 567 yards.
In Division III, Case Western Reserve (4-0) has won 13 of its last 14 games dating back to last season. The Spartans, tied with Carnegie Mellon for the lead in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference, play host to Bethany College on Saturday in the homecoming game.
Case Western averages 41.8 points per game (17th in Division III) on 477.5 yards of offense (26th in D3), including 310.2 passing yards (25th in DIII) and 167.3 rushing yards. On defense, the Spartans allow 14.8 points per game (second in the PAC and 33rd in D3).
The big game in the Ohio Athletic Conference has No. 2 Mount Union (4-0, 3-0) at No. 21 Heidelberg (4-0, 3-0) on Saturday at 1:30 in Tiffin, Ohio.
Heidelberg senior QB Tyler Stoyle leads the OAC in passing and has thrown for more than 300 yards in five straight games. Receiver Demetrious Magee averages 133 receiving yards a game.
Mount Union sophomore quarterback D’Angelo Fulford leads the nation in passer rating (244.1), yards per attempt (12.97) and completion percentage (72.1). He has thrown 13 touchdown passes.
