Reported robbery and shooting in Jacksonville’s University Park area

Jacksonville police said they are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting and robbery Sunday in the University Park area. 

Police sent out an alert at about 10:30 p.m. of a reported robbery in the 4200 block of North University Boulevard. Police later said that a person was shot and injured during the robbery. 

Police said two men in their late teens approached a victim in front of the Prime Time Food Store and tried to rob him. The victim was reportedly shot and the men fled the area.

A short time later, police said two men tried to rob another victim near the back of the food store but the victim was armed and shot one of the men.

The victim in the first attempted robbery and one of the suspects were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. 

Police could not confirm whether these shootings were related.
