White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders sent out a baffling, incoherent tweet of emojis Saturday morning — temporarily leaving the internet perplexed.
The 9 a.m. tweet, sent from Sanders’ official account, featured 16 traffic light emojis, eight of a world map, a home with a crack in it and several train illustrations. Sprinkled throughout the images was “:/9//&” and “lolaklkk.”
Sanders later tried to explain the seemingly cryptic tweet as a household mishap.
“This is what happens when your 3 year old steals your phone. Thanks Huck! #neverleaveyourphoneunlocked” she wrote an hour and a half later.
But that didn’t stop Twitter users from hooking the snafu to recent White House struggles.
“When Trump asks you to pledge loyalty to him, standard ritual is to tweet more stupid stuff than Trump does.” tweeted @ramprasad_c.
Others ripped on the President’s own social media habit and his reputation for sending typo-filled Tweets.
“Tweet is written in the ancient language of Covfefe.” @radevlo wrote, referring to a word the President used in a tweet last week that doesn’t appear in the English language.
“Never let trump tweet from your phone.” tweeted @bipolrbear.
There were also some enterprising users who tried to decode the series of emojis.
“US Navy greenlighting world conflict, protect trump hotels; taking off from Easter Island to bomb tokyo, hoard water and use other transport,” guessed @mtmaire.
Some critics called out Sanders for leaving a phone with her White House Twitter account on it unlocked.
“Oh sweet lord, tell me you have 2 phones Sarah. Watch out before your kid forwards an email to the post.” @abh1984 fired back at the deputy press secretary.
And jokesters wondered if the President was the 3-year-old that Sanders was referencing.
“Please, Trump has the behavioral and intelligence level of atleast a 5 yr old,” @Roguelost quipped.
