MONETT, Mo. — A substitute teacher has been charged with having sexual contact with a Monett High School student.
The Lawrence County prosecutor’s office filed two counts of sexual contact with a student against Loryn M. Barclay, 24, after an investigation by Monett police.
A probable-cause affidavit states that the investigation was prompted by information received by police April 27 from an anonymous source. A 17-year-old boy was interviewed May 3 and said that he had sexual relations with Barclay between November 2016 and January 2017 while she was a substitute teacher at the high school.
The boy told police that relations took place inside a vehicle at North Park in Monett and at his home on another occasion.
Barclay was interviewed May 4 and acknowledged having an “inappropriate relationship” with the boy while employed as a teacher. She allegedly admitted to both the sexual contact in the park and at the student’s residence, according to the affidavit.
