ULA Wins STPSat-3 As USAF Tees Up Major Launch Competition

WASHINGTON – United Launch Alliance has snagged its first competitive win against SpaceX to provide launch services for U.S. government national security payloads.

The company received a $191 million contract from the U.S. Air Force on June 29 to launch Space Test Program Satellite-3 (STPSat-3), a space vehicle with payloads capable of detecting nuclear explosions, monitoring the space environment and testing new laser communications technology.
