University Circle announces Uptown concert and event summer series

Cleveland, Ohio – Just weeks after the annual Wade Oval Wednesday schedule was unveiled, University Circle Inc. and Case Western Reserve University have announced a new line-up of entertainment in the Circle’s Uptown area. Concerts, festivals and even Shakespeare are on the bill.

“Clevelanders have come to expect summer fun in University Circle with events like WOW and this year we’re excited to add a full schedule of unique events at Uptown,” says Chris Ronayne, president of University Circle Incorporated. “We’re looking forward to welcoming even more visitors to both cultural centers in the Circle this summer at Wade Oval and Uptown.”

The Uptown summer begins Saturday, June 2 with the Uptown Miniature Golf and Ice Cream Social from Noon-5:00 p.m. on Toby’s Plaza. There will be a pop-up miniature golf course, plus complimentary treats from Piccadilly Artisan Creamery and Mitchell’s Ice Cream.

Schedule Highlights

Shakespeare in the Park, Friday, June 22, 7 p.m. Troilus and Cressida” presented by the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival.

Hand-Off: Celebration of CLE Visual Artists + Art Swap, Noon – 5 p.m. Saturday, August 18: Hosted in partnership with MOCA Cleveland, Hand-Off is a day-long celebration of Cleveland’s visual art community. Includes an outdoor exhibition, hands-on activities and an art exchange. Artists TBA.

Dinner with Strangers, 7 p.m. Friday, August 31: A complimentary three-course, al fresco networking dinner featuring Uptown’s restaurant. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.

End of Summer Party, noon – 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8: Live music, games, summertime activities, and outdoor movies.
