A student at the University of Alabama was expelled after a video of the student using racist language was posted online.
“We have learned of an offensive video involving racist language by a student who is no longer enrolled. We hold our students to a much higher standard than this,” University president Stuart Bell said in an email Wednesday afternoon.
“We are united in condemning this racist behavior and resolute in our commitment to ensure our students, faculty and staff know they are welcome, accepted and supported on our campus, and that discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated.”
The University of Alabama’s Twitter account responded to a tweet Tuesday morning and said, “It is regrettable this person has engaged in this behavior. It will be even more regrettable if she is determined to be a student at UA. This repulsive behavior will not and cannot be tolerated. Racism has no place at UA. It will be reported to the Office of Student Conduct.”
The university has not revealed the student’s name.
