Officials said “The statement we originally posted included a paragraph that was not appropriate. On Sunday morning, we realized our mistake and decided to remove it.”

And that “The death is tragic, and the university offers its deepest sympathy to family and friends of Dylan and the communities he was a part of at the University of Oregon.”

Shasta County authorities said Dylan Pietrs, 21, of Denver, Colorado was camping at Lake Shasta, where he then died.

Deputies said Pietrs might have died from an alcohol overdose, but that has not been confirmed.
