Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) – The Board of Trustees at the University of Rochester announced Friday it has selected an interim president.

Professor Richard Feldman will succeed Joel Seligman, whose resignation will take effect on February 28, 2018.

Seligman announced his resignation Thursday in the wake of a sexual misconduct investigation at the university that centered around a professor in the Brain and Cognitive Sciences Department.

In a letter released to the university, Board of Trustees chair Danny Wegman announced the decision. Feldman had served as the dean of the college from 2006-2017; he has worked at the university for more than 40 years.

The letter adds that Feldman will “immediately take responsibility for leading the effort to respond to the independent investigation report, and to make it his top priority to work with members of the University community and the Board to develop a plan to act on the report’s recommendations.”
